The following is a list of upcoming productions and auditions in the Fairfax-Loudoun area: Productions - Brian Stokes Mitchell on Stage. Broadway actor Brian Stokes Mitchell will be on stage at George Mason University's Center for the Arts, 4400 University Drive, in Fairfax, on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 8 p.m.
Mitchell has appeared in “Man of La Mancha,” “Kiss Me, Kate,” “Ragtime,” “King Hedley II,” “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” “Jelly’s Last Jam,” “Oh, Kay!,” and “Mail.”
Mitchell's performance is part of the College of Visual and Performing Arts' ARTS by George! benefit event to support student scholarships and the Great Performances at Mason series.

“Over the River.' Tickets go on sale Sept. 22 for the Vienna Theatre Company's production of the comedy “Over the River and Through the Woods” at the Vienna Community Center, 120 Cherry St.
Performances are Oct. 24., Oct. 25., Oct. 27, Oct. 31, and Nov. 1 at 8 p.m., and Oct. 26 and Nov. 2 at 1 p.m.
Tickets are $10 general admission and $9 senior citizens 65 and older and for students

'Forbidden Broadway.' The New York cast of “Forbidden Broadway” goes on stage at 8 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 29, at The Robert Ames Alden Theatre in the McLean Community Center, 1234 Ingleside Ave. This is a Tony Award® -winning roast of Broadway musicals past and present. It features outrageous costumes, hilarious lyrics spoofing Broadway's best songs and madcap impressions of favorite Broadway stars. Tickets are $37, $30 for McLean tax district residents.

Theater anniversary: Springfield Community Theatre will celebrate its 50th anniversary on Friday, Nov. 21 held in the evening at the Springfield Country Club on Old Keene Mill Road
This event will provide food, entertainment, pictures and memorabilia from past SCT productions, door prizes and a silent auction.
The cost is $50.

'Trocadero.' “Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo” will be performed on stage Monday, Jan. 26, at 8 p.m. at the The Robert Ames Alden Theatre in the McLean Community Center, 1234 Ingleside Ave. Graceful dancers, tulle, pointe shoes and-is that chest hair?! These "Russian" ballerinas en travesti interpret classical and modern ballets combining a loving knowledge of dance with a wicked comedic sensibility. 'Flowers for Algernon.' The Sterling Playmakers will hold auditions for its season opener “Flowers for Algernon,” on Friday, Sept. 5, 7-9 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 6, 1-4 p.m. at the Sterling Community Center 22084 Shaw Road,. There are roles for eight men and 17 women ages 17 through 65..
The plot involves Charlie, a mentally retarded man, and the strange interweaving of his life with that of
Algernon, a mouse. Experimental surgery is performed on both increasing their intelligence fourfold The play becomes a race against time in which Charlie tries to keep his new intelligence and life he has found.

'Forbidden Broadway.' The Reston Community Players are conducting auditions for “Forbidden Broadway: Friday, Sept. 5, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 6, at 2:30 p.m. At Lindsay Petersen Hall, 266 Sunset Park Drive, Sunset Business Park in Herndon.
Performances will be Nov. 8-23.
The director is Andy Regiec. There are roles for 4-6 performers between the ages of 20 and 50. The auditioners should prepare 16 bars of a comic song and be dressed to move.
Call 703-435-2702. Voce: Voce Chamber Singers, a 24 member mixed choral ensemble, announces auditions for its 2008-2009 concert series to fill openings in all voice parts. Voce is unusual in that all soloists for concerts throughout the season are selected from within the ensemble. Voce annually performs a diverse concert series featuring chamber choral music from around the globe, from early chant to newly commissioned works.
MPAT auditions: The Metropolitan Performing Arts Theatre in Fairfax Station and Alexandria announce auditions for adult singer/actors for the Washington , D.C. area premier of musical “Flight of the Lawnchair Man” will be held on Sept. 6 3:30-5:30 p.m. at the Metro Fine Arts Center in Fairfax Station, 9015 Silverbrook Rd, Fairfax Station, and Sept. 7 3:30-5:30 pm in Alexandria, 6450 Landsdowne Centre. All positions non paid.

Community Chorus: The Nova Community Chorus announces its rehearsals are open to all interested singers for its fall season.
Rehearsal are 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays on the Alexandria campus of Northern Virginia Community College, 3001 N. Beauregard St.
There will be an October performance of Mendelssohn's “Song of Praise,” and December performances of David Pinkham's “Christmas Cantata,” both with the Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic in venues including the Schlesinger Center in Alexandria.

Master Singers: The Master Singers of Virginia, directed by Erik Reid Jones, is looking for new members.
The group is one of the premier a cappella choral ensembles in Northern Virginia, concentrating on 20th- and 21st-century choral music. The Master Singers perform three major concert programs each season, as well as other engagements throughout Northern Virginia and the greater Washington, D.C., area. This will be the Master Singers' 14th season.
The concert series scheduled for this season includes Benjamin Britten's "A Boy Was Born," Francis Poulenc's "Mass in G Major," William Byrd's "Mass for Five Voices," and Shakespeare songs by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Frank Martin and Jaakko Mantyjarvi.
