The following is a list of upcoming productions and auditions in the Fairfax-Loudoun area. Productions : 'Pillowman.' The George Mason University Players brings Martin McDonagh’s black comedy “The Pillowman” to the Black Box TheaterSpace in the performing arts building on George Mason University’s Fairfax campus, 4400 University Drive, at 8 p.m. Nov. 20-22 and at 2 p.m. Nov. 22-23.

Set in an unnamed totalitarian state, “The Pillowman” tells the tale of an author who is interrogated about the gruesome content of his short stories, and their similarities to bizarre child murders occurring in his town. The play examines the artist’s responsibility to society.

This play may be graphic and disturbing and is not appropriate for children.

Tickets are $6; students, seniors and GMU faculty and staff $3. Limited free tickets are available for GMU students. parking is available. Tickets are on sale at the door one hour before performance. ‘Next to Normal.' The Washington Drama Society presents “Next to Normal” . 21-Jan. 18 at Arena Stage, 1800 S. Bell St., in Arlington. The plot of this dark comedy-musical revolves around an almost normal, suburban family as it navigates today's over-stimulated and over-medicated world.

Theater anniversary. Springfield Community Theatre will celebrate its 50th anniversary the evening of Friday, Nov. 21, at the Springfield Country Club on Old Keene Mill Road.

This event will include food, entertainment, pictures and memorabilia from past SCT productions, door prizes and a silent auction.

The cost is $50.

Master Singers. The Master Singers of Virginia, one of Northern Virginia's premiere a cappella choral ensembles, announces its 14th season. Tickets are on sale now for all winter and spring concerts. Season tickets are $38 for adults and $30 for seniors or students; individual ticket prices are $15 for adults and $12 for seniors or students in advance ($2 more at the door). Performance locations include Our Savior's Way Lutheran Church in Ashburn, The Franklin Park Center for the Performing and Visual Arts in Purcellville, Saint Luke Catholic Church in McLean, Christ Church of the Redeemer in McLean and St. James Episcopal Church in Leesburg. 'Trockadero.' “Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo” will be performed Monday, Jan. 26, at 8 p.m. at the The Robert Ames Alden Theatre in the McLean Community Center, 1234 Ingleside Ave. Graceful dancers, tulle, dance shoes and -- is that chest hair?! These "Russian" ballerinas en travesti interpret classical and modern ballets combining a loving knowledge of dance with a wicked comedic sensibility. Auditions/Open Rehearsals


Wakefield Chorale. The Wakefield Chorale holds open rehearsals Tuesdays, 7:30-9:30 p.m., in lecture hall B-167 of Lake Braddock Secondary School, 9200 Burke Lake Road in Burke. Call Jule at 703-451-7917.


Community Chorus. The Nova Community Chorus announces its rehearsals are open to all interested singers for its fall season.

Rehearsals are 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays on the Alexandria campus of Northern Virginia Community College, 3001 N. Beauregard St.

There will be December performances of David Pinkham's "Christmas Cantata" with the Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic.

No audition is required.

Master Singers. The Master Singers of Virginia, directed by Erik Reid Jones, are looking for new members.

The group is one of the premier a cappella choral ensembles in Northern Virginia, concentrating on 20th- and 21st-century choral music. The Master Singers perform three major concert programs each season, as well as other engagements throughout Northern Virginia and the greater Washington, D.C., area. This is the Master Singers' 14th season.
