The following are some of the art exhibits taking place in the Fairfax-Loudoun area: Art for Giving Holiday Exhibition. Greater Reston Center for the Arts offers original art and unique gifts at its annual Art for Giving exhibition and sale. The exhibit has a soft opening Wednesday, Nov. 26, and an official opening with a “Black Friday” breakfast 9-11 a.m. Nov. 28 (the day after Thanksgiving).GRACE is at 12001 Market St. in Reston Town Center. Art at Lake Anne Village Center. An exhibition, “World View -- Greece & Italy,” with works by Ronni Jolles and Joan Kelly, continues through Dec. 4 at the Reston Art Gallery & Studios, Washington Plaza West, Lake Anne Village Center.
Artist demonstrations also will take place at RAGS Saturday, Nov. 29, 10 a.m.-noon.

'Focus.' The Greater Reston Arts Center opens a new “Focus” exhibition Wednesday, Nov. 26, at its gallery, 12001 Market St., Reston Town Center. The exhibition, which continues through Tuesday, Dec. 23, features the works of Lee Gainer (“The Thought That Counts”) and Huguette Roe (“Recycle Series”).
The formal opening reception is Thursday, Dec. 4, 6 to 8 p.m.
In addition, there will be a Creation Station workshop for children, “Shapes and Sound,” Mondays, Dec. 1 and Dec. 8, 3:30-5 p.m., and a dramatic reading, “hub theatre: Big Love,” Thursday, Dec. 11, 6-7:30 p.m.

Landscape Painters: “Protected Landscapes” is the theme of an exhibition of paintings of the Nature Conservancy Preserves by the Washington Society of Landscape Painters in the Athenaeum Gallery, 201 Prince St., Alexandria. The exhibition continues through Jan. 4. Twenty-five percent of all sales benefit The Nature Conservancy.
A gallery talk will be held Tuesday, Dec. 9, 6-7:30 p.m. Gallery Hours are: Thursday, Friday, Sunday, noon-4 p.m. and Saturday, 1-4 p.m.

Three exhibits at MPA. The McLean Project for the Arts is hosting three thought-provoking exhibitions through Saturday, Dec. 20.
In the Emerson Gallery: “Georgia Goldberg, Seeing the Unseen: Light, Shadow and Air.” The entire gallery becomes an art installation, focusing on making the invisible visible. Materials include glass, scrim, twine and wind.
In the Atrium Gallery: “Aimee Helen Koch, Undressed.” Created in Paris, these photographs are from a series that investigates the runway model’s influences on women’s self-perceptions.
In the Ramp Gallery: “Photograms by Michael C. Mendez.” Using experimental techniques, these works explore the socialization and effects of alcohol and illicit substances in society.
Gallery hours are Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and Saturday, 1-5 p.m.

Workhouse Arts Center. The Workhouse Arts Center, 9601 Ox Road, Lorton, presents an exhibition featuring the works of artists William “Skip” Lawrence and Diane Santarella.
The exhibition, featuring “Homecoming” and “States of Mind,” runs through Nov. 23 in the Vulcan Gallery on the first floor of Gallery (W-16).
“Homecoming” is Lawrence's works of friends, family and places that resonate with him. Santarella’s mixed-media works in “State of Mind” include a series of paintings exploring the graphic, visual experience of meditation, migraines, dreamscapes and the organization of mental minutiae.
The Workhouse Arts Center Gallery is open from Wednesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Sundays, noon to 5 p.m. Visit WorkhouseArts.org.
Holiday Showcase. Studio 4 Galleries at the Workhouse Arts Center, 9601 Ox Road, Lorton, presents an exhibition featuring the works of the 12 Studio 4 resident artists.
The exhibit, “Holiday Showcase,” runs in conjunction with The Workhouse Arts Center’s second annual “Small Works,” exhibition in Building 16. Both shows run Nov. 26-Jan. 3. Hours are 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Wednesday to Saturday, and noon-5 p.m. Sundays.
Studio 4 Gallery will host a special artists' reception Saturday, Dec. 6, 2-5 p.m.
Food and prizes will be offered, as well as studio tours and discussions with the artists. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.

'Memory: A Lacquer Exhibit.' Galerie Brigitte, 11411 Sunset Hills Road, Reston, presents "Memory: A Lacquer Exhibit," showcasing the works of twin Vietnamese brothers Thanh and Hai throughout the month of November. ‘Landscapes Through New Eyes.’ An exhibition of oils, acrylics and giclee prints by Reston artist Mia Merin, “Landscapes Through New Eyes,” is on display in the Jo Ann Rose Gallery, Reston Community Center, Lake Anne Village Center, through Nov. 30. Merin’s landscapes are inspired by the rugged Acadia National Park in Maine. Merin also sketches and paints en plein air in the farmlands of Loudoun County.

Lyndia Terre etchings. “Connections,” an exhibition featuring the etchings of Lyndia Terre, continues through Nov. 30 at Huntley Meadows Park Visitor Center, 3701 Lockheed Blvd., Alexandria. Terre’s etchings capture the intricate designs of the park’s wetlands. Sale of the art will benefit the park and the memorial group Becca’s Ark, which supports the care of abandoned and feral pets. 703-768-2525.
Antique Oriental rug show/sale. A collection of more than 500 antique and beautifully worn Oriental rugs will be shown and sold Friday, Dec. 12, through Monday, Dec. 15, in the Athenaeum Gallery, 201 Prince St., Alexandria.

Werder photography exhibit. The photographs of Northern Northern Virginia photographer Lillis Werder are on exhibit at Washington Dulles International Airport through December. Two series of works by the artist are on display, on the themes of Washington, D.C., War Memorials and Venice, Italy.
The exhibit is coordinated by Gallery 222 and the Washington Metropolitan Airports Authority..

Soldwedel sculpture.
