Local winery taps Town Center
The Boxwood Winery is expanding beyond the confines of Middleburg.
By Christmas, the three-year-old boutique winery founded by John Kent Cooke -- son of former Washington Redskins owner Jack Kent Cooke -- will open its second wine bar, this one in Reston Town Center, according to Rachel Martin, Boxwood's executive vice president and the younger Cooke's stepdaughter.
Just like the winery's shop in the heart of Middleburg, this location will also be called the Tasting Room. It will carry 16 red wines and eight whites, and will feature labels produced by Boxwood and other wineries that have worked with famed French oenologist Stéphane Derenoncourt, who has worked with vineyards in Bordeaux, France.
Bottles of wine and tastings will be available, said Martin, as will cheese plates.
The shop will be in the section of Reston Town Center known as South of Market, which opened to tenants earlier this year.
"It's a great place and a great market," Martin said.
