Stanford Group opens McLean office
Just two weeks after Stanford Group Company announced that Richmond, Va. had been selected as the first expansion city for the company’s Private Client Group, five senior executives from FBR Capital Markets have joined the company in McLean, representing Stanford’s 20th Private Client Group office.
The team of five senior executives joining Stanford in McLean consists of Managing Director Steve Trautwein; Senior Vice President/Administrative and Operations Manager Elsie Metzl; Managing Director/Investments Bill Scott; and Senior Vice Presidents/Financial Advisors Paul Adkins and Steve Pritsios.
In addition, Emily Ferry and Peter Lamade will serve the McLean office in support roles. Jason Green, President of Stanford’s Private Client Group, is excited about the prospects of a Stanford office in the metro-Washington D.C. area.
“We have long looked to open offices in the Washington, D.C. area and take full advantage of the synergy with our well-respected Stanford Policy Research Group.
"In Steve Trautwein, we found the experienced leader we need to build the McLean office. The tremendous experience that he and each of these executives brings to Stanford will be invaluable to our company and clients as we continue to grow this important office. Virginia will be a great market for Stanford in both the short- and long-term and we’re fortunate to have such exceptional talent on board in both McLean and Richmond,” he said.
Prior to joining Stanford, Trautwein was Managing Director in the Private Wealth division of FBR Capital Markets. He also has served as Managing Director at Wachovia Securities for ten years where he partnered with Metzl, a 30-year industry veteran, to build Wachovia’s top performing office in the country. In 1996, he ran unsuccessfully for the United States House of Representatives, Pennsylvania’s Sixth Congressional District. Trautwein holds a B.S. from Brown University, where he dual-majored in Economics and Organizational Behavior and Management. He also completed the Securities Industry Institute Program at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business.
Scott brings more than 15 years financial services experience to Stanford, most recently with FBR where he was a Managing Director. He also served as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps. Scott is treasurer of the board of trustees for the Marine Corps University Foundation and also serves on the board of trustees for London School in McLean. He received a B.S. from Franklin & Marshall College.
Adkins was Senior Vice President, Private Wealth with FBR prior to joining Stanford. He also has served as Senior Vice President of Acquisitions for CarrAmerica Real Estate Services Corporation. He serves on the board of directors for GVA Advantis Real Estate Corporation, as well as Boys & Girls Club of the Washington, D.C. area, and The First Tee of Washington D.C. Adkins holds a B.A. from Bucknell University.
